Posted on May 8, 2024

Arcadis (EURONEXT: ARCAD), a leading global design and consultancy firm for natural and built assets, has been awarded a groundbreaking digital asset management contract with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO). This notable achievement marks the largest Enterprise Decision Analytics contract ever for Arcadis.

The five-year commitment, with an additional five-year renewal option, marks a significant milestone for Arcadis and underscores the company’s dedication to being the world’s leading asset management organization, supporting clients in optimizing the performance of their built assets through the lifecycle planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation stages.

Leveraging state-of-the-art technology and innovative solutions, Arcadis will spearhead the transformation of MTO’s legacy systems, consolidating disparate assets into a centralized transportation asset management system.

Alan Brookes, CEO of Arcadis said: “Digital asset management systems are critical to supporting transportation infrastructure globally and have the added benefit of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, creating a more sustainable transportation system. This contract win represents a significant milestone for our Enterprise Decision Analytics solution and marks a critical update to the transportation infrastructure in Canada’s most populous province.”

The scope of the MTO project extends beyond highways and bridges to encompass assets including lighting, traffic signals, overhead signs, northern airports, and intelligent transportation systems. By integrating these assets into a unified system, Arcadis aims to streamline and optimize investment planning, enhance data sharing, and enhance operational efficiency for MTO.

One notable aspect of the project is its potential impact on greenhouse gas emissions and environmental sustainability. By optimizing maintenance schedules and prioritizing investments, the Arcadis solution will enhance MTO’s ability to reduce the environmental footprint associated with its transportation infrastructure management. Reductions in the use of non-renewable resources and construction activities are among the benefits that will contribute to a more sustainable future for Ontario.

Arcadis acknowledges the vital contributions of its valued partners, including Esri Canada, a leading GIS vendor globally, and Conectado Solutions Inc., which specializes in asset management. Additionally, Stantec, renowned for its expertise in legacy infrastructure management systems, joins the project team to provide invaluable insights and support.
