Posted on June 17, 2026

The project will increase the cargo capacity of the Port of Santos.

The Santos Port Authority (APS) signed a contract this Friday, June 12th, for the dredging to deepen the navigation channel of the Port of Santos. The new depth will be 16 meters, meeting a need of the shipping market and expanding the capacity of the port complex.

“This is an investment of almost 620 million that we are making, which fulfills the expansion plan for the Port of Santos, so that the most modern fleet of cargo ships in the world can access the terminals without difficulty, increasing productivity and reducing costs,” informs the president of APS, Anderson Pomini.

The deepening of the Santos Port channel will be carried out 14 years after the last project, when the depth was increased to 15 meters. During this period, ships have evolved and require a greater draft. With this project, APS aims to guarantee better infrastructure for users of the port complex.

The company that will carry out the deepening is Jan de Nul do Brasil. The value is R$ 617.9 million, for a period of five years of work. The contract also includes maintenance dredging of the new channel for a period of two years.
