The Anaklia deep-sea port project is being implemented according to a pre-defined timeline, as of the government report on the execution of the state program.

The document does not provide details on the project’s investor, but notes that maritime infrastructure construction and preparatory dredging works have officially begun.

It also states that, as of September 2025, the preparatory phase for seabed dredging and mobilization of the breakwater construction works at the Anaklia port area has been successfully completed.

The report follows developments in the long-delayed project, for which a Chinese consortium, CCCC, was identified as the preferred bidder in an international selection process two years ago. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in May 2026 that negotiations could continue until the end of 2026.

Earlier statements from the Economy Minister suggested the port would receive its first vessel in 2032, later corrected by the government, which clarified that operations are expected to begin in 2029.
