Âmbar Energia sold its controlling stake in the Vale do São Bartolomeu transmission line in Brazil’s Goiás state and the Triângulo Mineiro Transmissora line in the federal district of Brasília to Eletrobras.
The company also announced the purchase, for 72mn reais (US$14.4mn), of the 350MW Candiota coal-fired plant (pictured) in Rio Grande do Sul state from Eletrobras.
And Âmbar reached an agreement with Eletrobras to sell its indirect stake in non-operational wind projects in the Baleia complex, subject to future events.

ComBio has received funding from Lightrock, a global private equity manager, and SPX Capital, one of Brazil’s largest independent asset managers.
The unspecified amount will be used by the company to attract new clients and expand its operations, according to a release.
ComBio develops steam generation projects for industries using biomass.
The company closed 2022 with operations in nine Brazilian states and more than 2.4Mt of steam produced.

Açu port, in Rio de Janeiro state, has signed a contract with federal oil company Petrobras to provide services associated with the docking of three floating production platforms.
Lasting three years, the contract provides for the units to be provisionally moored so they can later be recycled.
The port of Açu will also be responsible for removing biofouling, providing electricity and disposing of oily effluents from the tanks.

Statkraft has completed the civil construction stage of the Morro do Cruzeiro wind farm in Bahia state.
The company is now receiving the large components for the wind turbines. Next, it will be time to energize the substation and then assemble the first wind turbine.
At the same time, the company is finalizing the Ventos de Santa Eugênia wind complex, also in Bahia.
Although it is still at the end of construction, the complex, which has received 2.8bn reais in investments, has already begun commercial operations of two wind farms (VSE 2 and VSE 7).

Brazil’s power consumption is projected to increase by 5.6% (75,075MWa) in the week of September 9-15 compared to the same period last year, according to grid operator ONS.
In the north, growth should be 10.2% (7,682MWa) and in the southeast/center-west 6% (42,724MWa).
For the northeast and south, the forecast increases are 4.7% (12,418MWa) and 2.4% (12,251MWa), respectively.
Estimates for the energy stored in hydroelectric reservoirs are 91.7% in the south, 73.5% in the southeast/center-west, 71.5% in the north and 69.1% in the northeast.

Emmanuel Delfosse has taken over as CEO of Gás Natural Açu (GNA), replacing Guilherme Penteado, the regulatory director who had held the position on an interim basis for the last four months.
With more than 25 years’ experience in the energy sector, Delfosse is expected to consolidate the gas and energy hub, with the completion of work on the GNA II plant, the expansion of the existing thermoelectric park and the connection of GNA to the gas grid.

Tenaris has been selected by Equinor, in the name of the BM-C-33 consortium, to supply 83,000t of 22 and 24 high-grade welded line pipe, tubular accessories, and services for the gas export line of the BM-C-33 block, operated by Equinor as part of a consortium with Repsol Sinopec and Petrobras.

Paraná state’s Compagas has signed new long-term natural gas supply contracts with Petrobras.
The agreements, estimated at around 6.4bn reais, are valid from 2024 and guarantee gas to the Paraná market until 2034.

Petrobras’ refineries reached a total utilization factor of 97.3% in August, the highest since December 2014.
Total diesel production in the month was 3.78Bl, the highest in 2023. Production of S10 diesel, a product with low sulfur content, reached 2.37Bl.
