A long-awaited shoreline protection and beach nourishment project is now underway at Sargent Beach, marking a major step in efforts to slow severe erosion along one of Matagorda County’s most vulnerable stretches of coastline.
Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announced the beginning of the federal Sargent Beach Stabilization and Beach Nourishment project, which is being led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with the Texas General Land Office and Matagorda County.
