OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) – A $5 million federal grant will help the Port of Ogdensburg expand.
Right now, the port can load and unload one ship at a time and it’s the only American port on the St. Lawrence River.
With the help of federal money, the port will be able to double – allowing it to manage two ships at once – making the local port a more prominent feature along the seaway.
“I think it’s going to help us regain some of that status as a port-heavy city. Having the increased capability that this project’s going to allow for, we’re going to be able to take on some substantial projects more so than we’ve done in the past,” said Anthony Adamczyk, director of economic development, Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority.
