Western Dredging Association Plans Summit And Expo July 25–28 In Houston

The Western Dredging Association (WEDA) will hold its annual Dredging Summit & Expo July 25–28 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Houston, Texas.

The Dredging Summit & Expo ’22 is a technical conference organized by WEDA to promote the exchange of knowledge in fields related to dredging, navigation, marine engineering and construction. It will provide a forum for improvement of communications, technology transfer and cooperation among associations and societies while emphasizing the importance of understanding and developing solutions for problems related to the protection and enhancement of the marine environment.

During the event, WEDA will present several awards to recognize individuals, organizations and project teams for outstanding engineering and operational achievements while meeting the goals and objectives of the association. Awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dredger of the Year, Young Professional Award, Environmental Excellence Awards, Safety Excellence Awards and others.

As part of the summit, WEDA will offer four continuing-education short courses, all on July 25. The course offerings are: Dredging 101; The 4-Component Models for Pipeline Friction and Pump Solids Effect; Dredging 201; and Bathymetric Mapping—Acoustically Derived Accuracy and Precision for Dredging.

On July 24, WEDA will host the Greg Hartman Golf Tournament, named for the former chief of operations for the Portland Engineer District, and former WEDA chairman and president, and recipient of the Dredger of the Year in 1993 and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. The tournament will be held at the Golf Club of Houston.
