Dutch offshore service provider Jack Up Barge hosted 30 members of the industry platform Young IRO on the 55.5m platform JB-115 in Rotterdam to learn about the different possibilities of working with jack-up vessels.
The JB-115 has recently completed a project on the Kriegers Flak wind park in the Danish part of the Baltic Sea and is on the verge of mobilising to the German Bight for a project by Royal Van Oord.
Jurgen de Prez, commercial director at Jack up Barge, said: “The JB-115 shows the next generation of offshore energy specialists where all underlying disciplines come together. This way, the chain becomes visible to all.”
He added he “especially loved to witness the mutual passion for the offshore sector among the members of Young IRO. This is the type of transparency that will enable us to attract the right people in the future.”
Youth value
IRO aims to maintain and strengthen the position of the Dutch oil, gas and offshore renewable industry and looks after the interests of 425 affiliated companies.
The organisation values young professionals for their potential to generate new ideas, innovate and contribute to a sustainable industry.
Young IRO member Dave Krabbenborg, manager of production technology at Bayards, had the initial idea for the visit. Young IRO communication officer Siwart Mackintosh, who works with Bayards and, as such, supplies helidecks to Jack Up Barge, said: “The Young IRO members are all operative in the offshore industry and under 35 years-of-age.”
