YCWA Comments on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Draft Report on the Yuba River Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study

Posted on January 11, 2018

YCWA issued the following statement regarding the release of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ draft report on the Yuba River Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study, which can be read at http://www.spk.usace.army.mil/Portals/12/documents…

“YCWA helped fund and provide technical support for the development of this draft report, with the goal of identifying significant steps to improve fish and wildlife habitat conditions in the Yuba River. We encourage the public to review the report and provide comments about whether it satisfies our community’s interests. YCWA appreciates the restoration suggestions included in this draft report, but we continue to encourage the Corps to partner with us to do even more, including reexamining fish passage improvements with a step pool at Daguerre Point Dam, which would not only enhance the Corps’ current proposal but also have complementary public safety benefits. We will continue working with the Corps and others in an effort to find the best, comprehensive combination of restoration, recreation and public safety measures for the Yuba River.”
