The Board of the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new award to be presented at the WEDA Summit and Exposition, June 14-17, 2021, in Tampa, Florida. The WEDA Young Professional of the Year Award will recognize a young person who has made exceptional contributions to the dredging industry, as a whole, and to the Western Dredging Association in particular. The deadline for nomination submissions is April 2, 2021.
Nominees must be 35 years of age or younger and a member of WEDA at time of nomination submission. The nominees will have demonstrated special achievements and leadership in the field of dredging, contributions to WEDA and significant project accomplishments. For instance, a nominee may have played an important role at a dredging project, authored recent dredging industry related technical/scientific paper(s) or mentored high school or college students.
All nominees for the WEDA Young Professional of the Year Award will receive a one-time one-year free membership to WEDA. The Award Winner will receive a plaque, and be recognized on the WEDA website, in a press release and in an email to all WEDA members, as well as receive the one-year free membership to WEDA.
The Award recipient will be selected by the WEDA Awards Committee based upon review and assessment of the nominations received. The 2021 WEDA Young Professional of the Year Award will be presented during the annual WEDA Member Luncheon on the first day of the annual Summit and Exposition. The winner is expected to attend the WEDA Summit and Exposition in Tampa, Florida in June 2021 where the award will be presented.
