The tug Thomas is currently on site at Ascension Island in the South Atlantic 1,000 miles southwest of Liberia and 1,400 miles east of Brazil. There the Thomas and Weeks’ barges are ferrying aggregate from offshore vessels to a pier where they are unloaded, and the material is moved inland to support runway replacement. The Thomas is working for Schuyler Line Navigation Company, a subcontractor on the project.
The crew recently received a commendation letter from the prime contractor recognizing their outstanding professionalism, sound knowledge and judgment, and positive, friendly attitude.
