Vilano Beach Renourishment UPDATE +++++ USACE Jacksonville has paused dredging and beach work on its Vilano Beach project in response to conditions associated with passing Hurricane Lee; seas in excess pf six feet are expected through Sunday. The Dredge Magdalen has departed for safe harbor in Jacksonville and will return and resume operations after Lee passes. To date, the team has placed more than 223,000 cubic yards of sand along the beach; see this week’s progress map for details. Operations will resume 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The team thanks beachgoers for maintaining a sensible distance from active construction areas and exercising caution in and around the Surfside Park staging area to ensure public safety.
