Applied Spectrometry Associates Analytics Inc., a Waukesha-based maker of instrumentation for the water and wastewater treatment industry, has been acquired by In-Situ Inc. of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ASA Analytics has been renamed ChemScan Inc. and will operate as a subsidiary of In-Situ.

Founded in 1995 by Bernie Beemster, Scott Kahle and Bruce Reynolds to commercialize technology originally developed under contract to NASA, ChemScan manufactures instrumentation for automatic analysis of nutrients, disinfectants and other chemicals in water under the ChemScan brand name, which can be found in more than 1,000 treatment facilities throughout the world.

Staff and facilities of ChemScan will remain in place in Waukesha, according to a news release from both companies.

“With the addition of ChemScan, we have an extremely robust offering to better serve customers in the municipal water, wastewater and industrial markets,” said John Pawlikowski, CEO of In-Situ, in a release provided by the company. “ChemScan has provided analyzers for municipal and industrial facilities worldwide for more than 25 years.”
