Watermaster Dredger Restores Reservoir in Jalisco, Mexico

Posted on April 13, 2026

“For the first time in many years, the reservoir is free of water hyacinth.”

That is how Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro described the result at Las Pintas in Mexico, where the cleanup was carried out with a Watermaster amphibious multipurpose dredger and other heavy equipment.

The project was scheduled to take four months but was completed in just two and a half.

In that time, 33 hectares of the reservoir surface were cleared of water hyacinth and 64,183 m³ of accumulated material was removed, the equivalent of around 5,000 truck loads.

The reservoir now helps supply better quality water to 5.5 million people in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. The surrounding environment is also transforming, with odors gone, mosquitoes reduced, and wildlife returning to the site.
