The Waterfront Revitalization Committee met with the Board of Selectmen last Tuesday, seeking support for the project to be brought at Town Meeting.
Committee Chairman Chris Sampson was joined by architect Stephen Kelleher when addressing the selectmen. Kelleher presented a virtual video trip along the beach and the proposed buildings and pavilion. The trip, which is running on local cable access, takes the viewer along the renourished beach, proposed parking lot changes and to the new structures that would include an area for showers, rest rooms, concession, and lifeguard area as well as a 5,000 square foot pavilion on the water side of the structures.
The town has allocated approximately $1.2 million for the beach renourishment that would include dredging sand from the water and bring it on to the beach. To maintain the renourishment, sand would be brought to one end of the each to be circulated to the remainder of the beach.
