The Township Committee is moving forward with a project to dredge Dealaman Pond off Mount Horeb Road.
The committee voted unanimously to award a $337,500 bid for the project to Tricon Enterprise of Keyport at a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Tricon was the lowest bidder of eight companies who responded to a request for bids (RFB). The highest bid topped $1,700.
“This has been a long time coming for this dredging,” said Mayor Michael “Mick” Marion.
“It’s important for our fishing derby for our kids. Hopefully we get to the point where we can use that next year.”
The committee has been discussing the project for about six years, according to a statement made by Township Administrator Mark Krane at a meeting in July 2019.
“It’s necessary,” Township Committeeman Victor Sordillo said at the time. “It’s going to be Dealaman Swamp if we don’t do that.”
