Warning horn below Beaver Dam fully restored

Posted on August 15, 2022

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers restored the warning horn at Beaver Dam this week. USACE installed a temporary horn after the main one went offline in February.

Those downstream of the dam should be aware that when the horn sounds, the hydropower units are running, or the spillway gates are open.

When the horn sounds it means water is flowing and the river will begin to rise, move to higher ground immediately.

USACE urges anyone downstream of the dam to pay close attention to the water levels and to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket when on or around the water.

For more information, please contact the Beaver Project Office at 479-636-1210.

Information on releases from Beaver Dam can be found on the Little Rock District website, www.swl.usace.army.mil, by clicking on the water level button or by using the district smartphone app that can be found by searching “USACE Little Rock” in all major app stores.
