VARD and the Norwegian research institute NORCE Research have entered a strategic partnership on research and innovation.
The cooperation spans vessel design and construction, onboard and underwater maintenance, drone technology, and subsea solutions – with particular focus on standardized vessels for the Norwegian Navy. Key areas also include remote-control solutions for lean-manned vessels, zero-emission energy technologies, and the use of AI and cybersecurity in the maritime sector.
Building on years of successful collaboration, this partnership strengthens VARD’s innovation efforts, supported by access to advanced R&I initiatives across the FINCANTIERI Group.
As part of the Ocean Charger project led by VARD, NORCE has contributed valuable insights into offshore vessel charging concepts, supporting the development of efficient, electrified maritime operations.
