The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has approved the permit application from Kinder Morgan Canada for the portion of the project that is within our jurisdiction involving upgrade and expansion of the existing Westridge Marine Terminal in the Port of Vancouver. The decision was made after a thorough and robust project and environmental review of the application, including consultation with Aboriginal groups and community feedback on the impacts of construction activities at the Westridge Marine Terminal, such as noise, dust, lighting and proposed mitigations.
The upgrade and expansion of the existing Westridge Marine Terminal is one component of Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project, which underwent a federal environmental assessment under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 and the National Energy Board Act, and was approved by the Government of Canada in November 2016.
