Van Oord’s Vox Alexia making progress on her first dredging project in Brazil

Van Oord’s trailing suction hopper dredger Vox Alexia is busy on her first dredging project, taking place in the port of Barra do Riacho (Aracruz) and Port of Vitória in Brazil.

The Vox Alexia is doing maintenance dredging work for Van Oord’s client Vports Autoridade Portuária. Van Oord is bringing the navigation channel at Vitoria port and the turning basin and berth pockets at Barra do Riacho to the required depths.

The Vox Alexia is working on two ports at once within a short period of time so good coordination is key. The vessel is making great progress.

The vessel is working with 2 plough boats and a survey vessel and our colleagues are bringing the expertise and coordination skills that this work requires.

Van Oord welcomed the Vox Alexia in 2023. She is the company’s third LNG-powered vessel and joined sister vessels the Vox Ariane and the Vox Apolonia.
