MPI Offshore recently bunkered the MPI Adventure vessel with HVO30 biofuel in Rotterdam. This marks an important step in demonstrating our capability to decarbonise our Operation and Maintenance Services.
By adopting drop in biofuels like HVO, we can significantly cut emissions for both Van Oord and our clients while keeping our existing fleet fully operational — no major vessel modifications required. In particular, HVO30 will lead to a reduction of approximately 27% of CO₂e across production and use.
On 1 June 2025, SBTi formally communicated its approval of all Van Oord’s targets, making us the first marine contractor to align with the 1.5 degrees Celsius pathway of the Paris Agreement. SBTi’s approval underscores Van Oord’s aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with the latest climate science.
