Van Oord achieved 89.2% renewable electricity across our global yards and offices in 2025, in line with our Scope 2 Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) near term target. The scope focuses on indirect emissions from purchased electricity utilised primarily to power support services such as offices, yards and electric vehicles, as well as electric dry earth-moving equipment.
The achievement was made possible in the most part thanks to investments in renewables at our yards in Batam, Indonesia and Ras al Khaimah, UAE
Van Oord is now well on the way to our Scope 2 SBTi 2030 long term target of sourcing 100% renewable electricity to power our offices, yards and leasing cars.
On 1 June 2025, SBTi formally communicated its approval of all Van Oord’s emissions targets, making us the first marine contractor to align with the 1.5 degrees Celsius pathway of the Paris Agreement. SBTi’s approval underscores Van Oord’s leadership in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with the latest climate science.
