CEO Pieter van Oord has accepted the Rotterdam Promotion Prize from Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb. According to the judges, Van Oord ‘significantly contributes to Rotterdam’s good reputation as a city that is home to high-quality international craftsmanship.’ The prize was awarded for the forty-fourth time on 17 February at Rotterdam City Hall.
Hugo Bongers, chairperson of the Rotterdam Promotion Prize Foundation: ‘Van Oord is absolutely the largest company ever to have received the prize. The company has ‘Dutch pride’ written all over it. It significantly contributes to Rotterdam’s good reputation as a city that is home to high-quality international craftsmanship. Van Oord projects the values that are the hallmarks of this city: quality, level-headedness, tradition, courage, and spirit.’
The Rotterdam Promotion Prize, which was established by the members of Club 25, has been awarded since 1981. The prize is awarded to a person or organisation that substantially contributes to the recognition and good reputation of Rotterdam as a city and as a port.
