With the start of scour protection works, the offshore construction works for the first phase of RWEโ€™s German 1.6 GW Nordseecluster offshore wind project has kicked-off. A milestone for the project! The scour protection provides full protection for the monopiles that will be installed later this year. We have been contracted to install the scour protection for this project.

The works are being executed by our flexible fallpipe vessel Stornes, which is equipped with a dynamic positioning system, a flexible fallpipe, and in-house developed ROV technology. This allows us to install the scour protection with high precision and efficiency, even at greater water depths.

With over 35 years of experience in subsea rock installation, Van Oord continues to lead the way in supporting both the offshore wind and offshore industries with pre- and post-lay rock installation, scour protection installation, seabed preparation and ballasting services for offshore structures.

In a later phase, our brand-new offshore installation vessel Boreas will be deployed to carry out the foundation installation, marking Nordseecluster its first project.
