JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District prepared a regional implementation manual for the evaluation of dredged material proposed for discharge into waters of the United States and is seeking public comment on the draft document.
The “Alaska Dredged Material Evaluation Framework,” or ADMEF, aims to provide guidance for the Alaska District’s civil works navigation and regulatory programs for the evaluation, testing, and management of dredged sediment in Alaska. The manual attempts to address the unique circumstances, climate, logistics and minerology associated with many proposed dredging projects in the state. USACE coordinated with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Region 10 and Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation during its development.
Representatives from the Alaska District will provide a 10-minute presentation about the document at the 36th Sediment Management Annual Review Meeting hosted by the USACE – Seattle District on May 8 at 9:20 Alaska Standard Time. Anyone interested in viewing the presentation or participating in the event can register for the virtual credentials here.
The ADMEF is available for public review until June 7. It may be viewed at the Alaska District’s website at: https://www.poa.usace.army.mil/Library/Reports-and-Studies/Alaska-Dredged-Material-Evaluation-Framework/.
