PHILADELPHIA — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District ushered in new leadership as Lt. Col. Ramon Brigantti assumed command of the organization from Lt. Col. David Park during a July 9th ceremony in the Wanamaker Building’s Crystal Tea Room.
Brigantti became the 61st commander in the District’s 155 year history.
“To the amazing civilians and soldiers on the Philadelphia District team – it speaks volumes that we have public servants who are willing to serve this country, this region, this city, and this organization for decades,” said Brigantti, who most recently served as a program manager in the Engineer Directorate at U.S. Army Central. “I’m humbled at this opportunity to lead…so let’s get to work!”
Brig. Gen. Thomas J Tickner, Commanding General of the North Atlantic Division, presided over the ceremony. He said Brigantti is prepared to lead the District.
“Both Dave Park and Ramon Brigantti are proven leaders who develop solutions to the nation’s toughest challenges while taking care of their people.,” said Tickner. “LTC Brigantti – you are the right leader at the right place at the right time – welcome to Philly!”
Tickner said that LTC Park led the District through a challenging two-year period with a calm and cerebral approach.
“I continue to be impressed with all you have done to lead your teammates to deliver on projects that directly benefit the surrounding communities, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the states of New Jersey and Delaware, and the nation,” said Tickner.
Park reflected on his tenure with the Philadelphia District and thanked his family and teammates for support during his tenure.
“I don’t think I could have asked for a better team of professionals, mentors, and colleagues and I feel privileged and proud to have worked alongside you these past two years,” said Park.
Park will attend the National War College at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. for his next assignment.
Brigantti now oversees a 500-person workforce responsible for managing the water resources of the Delaware River basin; building facilities for the Army and Air Force; and providing engineering and environmental services for other agencies.
Brigantti was commissioned as an Engineer Second Lieutenant from the United States Military Academy in 2001. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio University. He is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Officer Advanced Course, and Command and General Staff College. He is a registered professional engineer from the state of Missouri.
