The USACE has released on January 25 a contract opportunity to begin the process for solicitation of a new Medium Class Hopper Dredge (MCHD) that will replace the McFarland. The new dredge will operate out of the Philadelphia district. The released notice is a solicitation seeking comments from the industry with the purpose of assisting the USACE in the process of developing a formal solicitation to bid. It is estimated that the solicitation will be released somewhere around April 1. USACE advised that the solicitation is not an invitation for a bid. USACE has requested that comments be submitted by February 22.
