JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the award of an $8 million construction contract for the Miami-Dade County beach renourishment project, Bal Harbour.
The $8,059,599.50 contract was awarded to Cavache Inc. based in Pompano Beach, Fla.
This effort will restore eroded shoreline along Miami-Dade County within the Village of Bal Harbour. The sand source for the project will be the Baker’s Haulover Flood shoal dredging and a sand truck haul. The project is scheduled to begin late this summer.
This project is 100 percent federally funded via the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (Public Law 115-123), which goes toward projects that will reduce risk to communities damaged by storm events such as hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.
