The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, recently received a permit application from the National Coast Guard Museum Association for proposed work in the Thames River off property located at 2 Water St., New London, and will seek public comments.
Comments should be forwarded by Oct. 2 to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, Attn: Diane M. Ray, Regulatory Division, 696 Virginia Road, Concord, MA 01742, or by email to diane.m.ray@usace.army.mil referencing file number NAE-2016-00120.
The Corps is soliciting comments from members of the public; federal, state and local agencies; Native American tribes; and other interested parties to consider and evaluate the impacts of this proposed activity.
The project proposed by the NCGMA involves construction of a museum on land owned by the U.S. Coast Guard. Project work would include removing rubble from the Thames River shoreline and removing the existing concrete platform and piling from City Pier Plaza.
