Tri-Cities leaders call on Whitmer to intervene in dredging delay

Due to concerns with PFAS, Grand Haven’s inner harbor won’t be dredged in 2025.

Posted on May 12, 2025

Five local leaders on Thursday signed a letter to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer requesting attention to resolve the delay in dredging the Grand Haven inner harbor.

District 10 County Commissioner Josh Brugger, Grand Haven Mayor Bob Monetza, Ferrysburg Mayor Richard Carlson, Spring Lake Township Supervisor Jerry Rabideau and Spring Lake Village President Mark Powers are asking the governor to step in to prevent the costly holdup at the harbor, which is not expected to be dredged this year.
