The Moustakbal Returns Home and gets a new name “Biesbosch”

We’re thrilled to announce that the trailing suction hopper dredger Moustakbal is making its way back to the Netherlands! Originally built in 1999 by IHC Holland in collaboration with Scheepswerf Slob in Papendrecht, and completed in Sliedrecht, this vessel is returning to its roots under the ownership of Filia Dredging, with support from DE Klop B.V.

Designed for maintenance dredging in shallow coastal areas and ports, the Moustakbal boasts a hopper capacity of 1,500 m³. After several years out of service, it is set to undergo a comprehensive refurbishment, starting in Casablanca, where the vessel is currently located.

Willem van Berchum, Filia Dredging:

“The acquisition of the Moustakbal represents a significant step in Filia Dredging’s ongoing professionalization and growth. This addition not only expands our operational capacity but also strengthens our position in both the national and international dredging markets.”

Cees-Wim van Noordenne, DE Klop B.V.:

“Bringing the Moustakbal, a vessel with Dutch roots, back home and preparing it for a second life is a remarkable endeavor. This collaboration underscores our commitment to contributing actively to the sustainability and advancement of the dredging sector. We are proud to support Filia Dredging in this initiative.”

The Biesbosch is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, ready to contribute to dredging projects both in the Netherlands and abroad.

This milestone highlights the strength of collaboration within the Dutch dredging industry and our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability.
