If all goes as planned, crews from Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois, will be at work in the Cape Cod Canal in January dredging more than 180,000 cubic yards of sand and sediment and depositing the material onto erosion-plagued Town Neck Beach.

By the end of March, an army of bulldozers, front-end loaders and other heavy machinery will have spread, packed, and leveled the dredged material into a new and improved barrier beach.

Voters made it all possible Monday night, November 16, at a Special Town Meeting, when they unanimously, without a single question or comment, approved the final allocation of $600,000 in Community Preservation Act funds to pay for the project.
