The Western Dredging Association (WEDA) announce the selection of Ada Agbogu Chimzulukeme and Nicholas (Nico) Lonergan as WEDA Fellows for 2026.

The Western Dredging Association (WEDA) is pleased to announce the selection of Ada Agbogu Chimzulukeme and Nicholas (Nico) Lonergan as WEDA Fellows for 2026.

Ada Chimzulukeme graduated with a master’s in Civil and Environmental Engineering with emphasis in environment and water systems, from the University of Georgia. She holds a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Nigeria. Ada’s research interests include natural infrastructure systems, nature-based solutions, fluid mixing and transport, wetland ecosystems, climate change impacts and adaptation. Outside work, She enjoys taking long walks, working out, and traveling.

Nico Lonergan is a master’s student in the department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University. His research focuses on the use of thin-layer placement (beneficial use of dredged sediment) to restore Louisiana’s coastal marshes and expanding mangrove ecosystems by evaluating how sediment additions influence soil chemistry, nutrient cycling, and ecosystem resilience.
