State-of-the-art automation redefining dredging
LJ Inc.’s latest dredge, set to be commissioned in 2025, showcases just how far technology has come since its early days in mining. The company’s newest dredge runs operator-free, thanks to advanced automation that enhances safety and efficiency on the water. According to LJ, its focus remains on removing miners from hazardous environments while maximizing the performance capabilities of each dredge. As a contributor to both safety and productivity improvements in modern dredging, LJ aims to push the envelope of what’s possible in mining operations.
Modular dredge design enables faster deployment
The Titan dredge, which features the transformable integrated modular (TIMS) system, stands as a testament to modern engineering’s transformative power, according to VMI. The company says the Titan arrives in modular components that can be assembled into a formidable dredging force that enables efficient transport, installation and redeployment. Like a Transformer, VMI says the dredge is engineered to take shape wherever a mission demands.
Systems enhance compliance, insight into operations
DSC Dredge’s control systems are designed to simplify compliance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dredging Quality Management (DQM) program, automating required data transmission with no extra hardware or PCs needed. Seamlessly integrating with DSC Vision, Hypack, Trimble or GPS alone, DSC Dredge says its PLC-based platform ensures accurate reporting with minimal setup. Now paired with DredgeRx’s new historical reporting automation, the company says operators can generate recurring reports with a few clicks to merge DQM compliance with broader operational visibility.
