The GLDD Laboratory for Dredging and Coastal Studies is almost ready!

The Lab was celebrated at an event in College Station on April 16, 2025. Mike Fossum, Chief Operating Officer at Texas A&M Galveston, Sharith Girimaji, Ocean Engineering Department Head, Aruk Jayaraman, Executive Associate Dean College of Engineering, and Kevin McGinnis of the Texas A&M Foundation welcomed Lasse Petterson, CEO of GLDD, and David Johanson, Chris Gunsten, and Bill Hanson of the GLDD Executive Team. The group was treated to remarks by everyone’s favorite dredging professor, Dr. Bob Randall.

GLDD has a long relationship with TAMU Ocean Engineering and the Texas Maritime Academy and several GLDD managers who are former students at TAMU also participated including Dane Nelson, Washington Bryan, and Cody Chambers along with Deneichia Binghak from GLDD. Michael Beton, who serves on the OCEN Advisory Board and has been instrumental in the development of the Lab, was featured in the discussions.

GLDD is excited to play a role in this new facility to continue to be a part of the dredging academic community to help grow the research needed for future needs and introduce students to the excitement the dredging field provides.
