Technip Energies’ floater solution, INO15TM, is one of the five winners of the United States Department of Energy’s Phase Two FLoating Offshore Wind ReadINess (FLOWIN) prize.
INO15TM is a three-column semi-submersible concept designed to support a 15 MW wind turbine and is scalable to a larger capacity wind turbine.
This latest prize is part of the FLOWIN initiative, which is designed to encourage technology development and industrialisation of floating offshore wind for cost-effective domestic manufacture and deployment of gigawatt-scale floating wind farms in US waters.
As a result of Technip Energies’ win, the company will receive a cash prize of $450,000 and $100,000 worth of technical support from Department of Energy National Laboratories. In addition, it will qualify for the final Phase Three of the award, which will be announced in June 2025 and provides the chance to win an additional $900,000 prize.
The new award follows Technip Energies’ success in Phase One of the prize. Along with three partners – Crowley Wind Services, Anchor QEA, and Offshore Construction Associates – it was one of the nine $100,000 winners announced in March 2023.
