Tariff pain hits the ports

Posted on May 5, 2025

President Trump’s tariffs are leading to declining shipments at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

According to Gene Seroka, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, cargo shipments are expected to drop by 35% next week.

Shipments from China make up 45% of business at the ports.

For truck drivers and logistics professionals, lower shipments mean there may be economic troubles on the horizon.
