Mashpee may soon have a single comprehensive dredging permit to address all the town’s channels instead of multiple permits, simplifying the application process.
A 10-year comprehensive permit has been approved by federal and state entities and is waiting for a public comment period in November before its final approval.
The permit would ease the application process for state and federal entities, as well as for Mashpee and the Mashpee Waterways Committee.
Committee chairman Kenneth H. Bates received a round of applause from committee members during a meeting Tuesday morning after the announcement that approval was close.
