On August 30th, the “Xin Hai Xun,” the first large-scale trailing suction dredger with a 15,000 cubic meter capacity and dual-fuel power system in China, returned from its trial voyage, successfully completing the LNG gas trial mission. The vessel was invested in by CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd., packaged by the CCCC Dredging Technology Research Center, and built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.
The “Xin Hai Xun” is the world’s largest and China’s first self-developed large-scale trailing suction dredger with an LNG dual-fuel power system, capable of handling green energy dredging operations. It is designed for dredging and filling projects in the Yangtze River estuary and coastal port channels, as well as for coastal maintenance projects. The ship is 155.7 meters long, 32 meters wide, and 13.5 meters deep, with a maximum hold capacity of 17,000 cubic meters. It is designed to cruise at a speed of 14.5 knots. The vessel features a twin-engine (one towing two compound drive), dual-fuel (MDO and LNG), twin-propeller, twin-thruster, twin-dredging ladder, fully open deck, forecastle, and streamlined twin-skeg hull design. It is equipped with the most advanced and highly intelligent “one-click dredging” and “dredging and driving integration” systems available in China, which will enable “unmanned dredging” under typical working conditions once operational. The ship has been awarded the additional class notation “Natural Gas Fuel, Dredging within R2, AUT-0, OMBO, DP-1” by CCS
