St. Lucie Co. commissioners unveils plan to create jobs

FT. PIERCE, Fla. — St. Lucie County Commissioners say they have a plan to revitalize the Port of Fort Pierce that will bring hundreds of jobs to the area.

The plan involves bringing in a yacht refurbishing company. Officials with the County announced last week they plan to work with Derecktor Shipyards of Dania Beach to build and operate a mega-yacht repair center.

Tuesday’s meeting will focus on the details of that contract.

The Director of the Port yells CBS12 News once the contract is final and the deal is done, it will bring 900 skilled jobs over the next five years.

The vote was scheduled for Tuesday morning.
