As King Company finishes up their dredging of the outer St. Joseph harbor, visitors to Silver Beach County Park have noticed some major changes – it just keeps getting bigger.
The project is a continuation of last fall’s emergency dredging to clear a buildup of sand that was blocking the pathway of commercial vessels.
It has now extended Silver Beach south almost all the way to Lions Park Beach. St. Joe Harbormaster Michael Moran tells us this was the largest amount of material moved in a single dredging that anyone can recall.
He says the dredging is scheduled to be completed this week.
