The Flood Relief Minister says The Shannon Flood Risk State Agency Co-ordination Working Group is evaluating the merits of ‘localised dredging’.
Sean Canney has also told the Dáil that a trial reduction in water levels at Lough Allen will be introduced this winter to help prevent flooding along the Shannon.
He’s been responding to questions from Offaly Sinn Féin TD Carol Nolan who said that many people across the Midlands are ‘terrified’ at the prospect of further flooding this winter.
Minister Canney says they are examining problem areas.
