Sediment Options Weighed At Meeting

The future of two area Missouri River dams could receive high priority under a federal program, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers official said Monday.

Paul Boyd, a Corps hydraulic engineer with the Omaha District, addressed the annual meeting of the Missouri Sedimentation Action Coalition (MSAC) in Yankton.

Boyd spoke with the Press & Dakotan after his presentation at The Landing. He referred to studies confirming a rapidly growing sediment problem at Gavins Point Dam near Yankton and Fort Randall Dam at Pickstown.
