Second Phase of Dredging at RAK’s Saqr Port Commences

Posted on January 30, 2018

The second phase of dredging operations in connection with the berth extension project at Ra’s al-Khaimah’s Saqr Port is due to commence today, according to a Notice to Mariners issued by the Harbour Master of RAK Ports. The work is expected to last for two weeks, subject to weather conditions.

Dredging operations will take place over an area of approximately 750 metres radius and the existing project exclusion zone, which shipping is not allowed to enter, will be extended temporarily towards the western side of the Saqr Port breakwater.

The Notice advised shipping to be aware of the temporary exclusion zone while entering and leaving RAK Maritime City and the Stevin Rock Harbour to exercise extreme caution while transiting in the vicinity.
