Second Damen technical seminar to be held in Africa a continuous success

Posted on July 16, 2019

Damen Services has just completed its second technical seminar to be held in Africa. The event focused on navigational equipment supplied by Alphatron Marine and involved technical staff from owners and operators of Damen vessels in Nigeria. During these three intensive days the attendees improved their problem-solving abilities and maintenance skills on all aspects of Alphatron equipment. By the end they had acquired new knowledge and insights to enable them to increase the operational uptime and minimise the maintenance costs of the various navigational instruments onboard.

The technical seminar took place in the Nestoil training centre, itself built by Damen, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, from the 1st to the 3rd of July. It was led by Monique Scholten & Raymond van Roon, both Alphatron instructors, and was attended by engineers from 7 clients. Damen representatives Eline Holtes, Sales Africa; Richard de Kok, Service hub Manager Nigeria and Reimer Weststrate, Regional Service Manager, were also present.

One concluding technical seminar in Port Harcourt is scheduled for 2019, which has its focus on GEA Westfalia separators & Fuel systems (registration deadline 01 September). Similar to the first and second seminar, this will be hosted by Damen in close cooperation with Nestoil, Shipside Drydock and FW Dredging.

With an extensive transfer of knowledge combined with practical training, the seminar was judged a big success. The participants also had the opportunity to share insights with each other from their own experiences.
