Schoeller Holdings and Deutsche Offshore Schifffahrt have joined forces in the offshore energy sector with four construction commissioning service operation vessel (C-CSOVs) newbuilds in China.
Cyprus-based Schoeller Holdings has ordered the ships from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for delivery starting in early 2027.
The newbuilds will be fit to work in the offshore wind sector as well as in other segments of the offshore energy sector. The sips will be 96.25 m long and 20 m wide and be suitable for tasks above and below water for wind farm installation and their operators, turbine manufacturers, and cable repairs for grid operators, but also IMR and light construction work for companies in the oil and gas sector, Schoeller said.
Deutsche Offshore Schifffahrt was launched a year ago and is acting as commercial manager for the four ordered special-purpose vessels. Technical management will be provided by Columbia Shipmanagement, which, like the multipurpose cargo shipping company AAL, is part of Schoeller Holdings.
“The energy market is desperate for new players and more ships. We will charter out the C-CSOVs worldwide, both on the spot market and for long-term contracts of up to 15 years,” said Philipp Maracke, managing partner of Hamburg-based Deutsche Offshore Schifffahrt, who founded the company together with Johannes Wolters.
The C-CSOV will be methanol-ready and feature 1,000 kWh battery pack and shore power connection. The ship design was jointly developed by Deutsche Offshore Schifffahrt and Norway’s Salt Ship Design.
