Gwynt y Môr (Welsh for ‘sea wind’) is a 576-megawatt (MW) offshore wind farm located off the coast of north Wales and is the fifth largest operating offshore windfarm in the world. The farm has 160 wind turbines of 150 metres (490 ft) tip height above mean sea level.
Planned maintenance work, including lifting heavy equipment, will take place at specific locations within the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm. They will begin with the planned upkeep and servicing of the offshore wind farm components to ensure they are function properly. They will be using specialised equipment such as cranes and jack-up vessels to move or replace large wind turbine parts.
All relevant parties and stakeholders will be informed.
The designated sites for these operations are the Met Mast (53.48073333, -3.50836165) and WTG E15D (53.46862272, -3.5109757) within the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm. Mariners and nearby vessels are advised to remain cautious and maintain a safe distance from the work areas during this period.
The work will be undertaken using the Wind Server, a Jack Up Vessel (Offshore Support Vessel) measuring 79.00m length, 32.00m breadth, with a nominal draught of 5.30m and is red and white in colour.
