Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chairman Osama Rabie met with Panos Xenokostas, CEO of Greece’s ONEX Shipyard, to discuss joint shipbuilding, training, and converting vessels to operate on clean fuel, the authority said Friday, 28/11/2025, in a statement covering his itinerary during a current trip to Greece.

Rabie’s visit included tours of ONEX workshops, technical training centers and ship maintenance docks. He highlighted Egypt’s efforts to modernize its shipyards and expand global partnerships to leverage the Suez Canal’s strategic location and human resources.

The talks took place alongside the 14th Arab-Greek Economic Forum in Athens, where Rabie also met with Arab and Greek business leaders to promote SCA companies’ capabilities in maritime infrastructure and port projects.

Egyptian Ambassador to Greece Omar Amer praised the SCA’s strategic partnership with Greece’s V Group and the role of the Suez Canal in sustaining global trade flows.
