The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District welcomes Sandi Dolbee as the newly elected Community Co-Chair of the Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) for the Former Beale AFB Titan 1-A Missile Facility environmental restoration project.

Over her one-year term, Dolbee will lead the RAB in its ongoing efforts to ensure the safe restoration of the site and engage with the Lincoln community throughout the process.

A California native and Sun City resident, Dolbee brings a wealth of experience as a retired journalist, having worked for major publications such as The San Jose Mercury News and The San Diego Union-Tribune. Dolbee’s interest in environmental restoration grew after attending public meetings about the former Titan 1-A missile site.

“I can’t think of any more important thing than to be involved in trying to restore our land to be used safely and wholly,” Dolbee said. “I am very impressed with our community RAB. We share a dedicated desire to be part of the solution on behalf of the Lincoln community we represent.”

Dolbee replaces Ranny Eckstrom, who has served as the community co-chair since the RAB’s establishment last March. Eckstrom will continue to serve as a member of the RAB.

“Sandi Dolbee’s leadership and commitment to the environmental restoration of the Titan 1-A site will be invaluable in helping us engage the community and move this important project forward,” said Linda Mercurio, USACE project manager. “The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is committed to protecting public health and the environment through comprehensive environmental restoration efforts at former military sites.”

The Titan 1-A project, part of the Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) program, is focused on investigating and addressing potential environmental concerns at the Former Beale AFB Titan 1-A Missile Facility. USACE continues to follow the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) as it progresses through the remediation process, and its’ schedule estimates remedial design and remedial action could begin as soon as 2027.

The next public Restoration Advisory Board Meeting is scheduled for April 24 from 4-6 p.m. at the Kilaga Springs Lodge, 1167 Sun City Blvd, Lincoln, CA 95648.
