Significant synergies between the two well-established groups mean that Gardline’s global client base and extensive activity in the marine geophysical, offshore geotechnical and environmental survey sectors perfectly complement the services already offered by Boskalis.
The acquisition sees Boskalis fulfil its strategic ambitions to establish a position in the offshore survey market and become a specialist provider of subsea geotechnical surveys through its entry into the renewables and early cyclical oil and gas sectors.
Established by the late George Darling in 1969, Gardline had remained a family-owned business until this acquisition. The company’s core activity is based in North West Europe and it currently employs 750 people, including 100 surveyors, across offices in Great Yarmouth (UK), the USA, Brazil and Singapore. It operates 15 survey-related vessels and 25 smaller craft, including crew transfer vessels and survey catamarans.
With a fleet of more than 900 vessels and floating equipment and 11,700 employees, Boskalis operates in over 90 countries across six continents. Its currently provides services for the construction and maintenance of ports and waterways, land reclamation, coastal defence and riverbank protection as well as towage and salvage.
